WELCOME

Based out of Abingdon, VA, Southern Appalachian Dance Collective is a 501(c)(3) suitcase-style company that has performed at several venues around the Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee area. Originally known as Olina Dance Collective, Southern Appalachian Dance Collective was re-established by Olivia Ratliff in 2023.

 

As Artistic Director, Ratliff has created and produced new works for the company. Her passion for her unique vision of storytelling has been immanent. During the company’s tenure, she has created works around the mental health crisis and the history of Southern Appalachia. Repertory pieces include 'From a Mind', 'LEON', and 'Appalachian Awakening'. She has welcomed company members to create original works for the company, allowing members a space to share their craft with the area. Past choreographers include Eva Burcher, Will Smith, Regina Rice, Cameron Roberts, Bobby Wheeler, and Lola York.

Southern Appalachian Dance Collective strives to provide a nurturing and inclusive space for dancers in Southern Appalachia and to facilitate the enrichment of our community by sharing the art of dance.
